Authorization Basis: The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), in the Ministry of National Security is the primary agency for the coordination of Disaster Risk Management and Reduction activities in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). NEMO was established in 2006 by the National Emergency Management Organization Act, No. 15 of 2006, which gives it the responsibility for national disaster management in in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Various other pieces of legislation also govern the operations of NEMO, including the Emergency Powers Act 45, 1970 and the Natural Disaster Relief Act, 1947.
